Bilt-Hamber Auto-wash is a new technology, highly powerful, environmentally friendly vehicle shampoo, formulated and manufactured by us to allow you to effortlessly, gently and effectively clean your paintwork before deep cleaning with other products in our paint care system.
Ultra concentrated, high foaming and only the very highest quality. You only need a teaspoon to generate sufficient gently acting bio degradable foam and suds to wash a car. There are no needless perfumes, thickeners or additives in Auto-wash - just everything that’s needed to remove road salt, grime and the worse that the elements can throw at modern paint surfaces.

As well as being tough and hard working of shampoos, Auto-wash is also the gentle. It has no waxes, so you can forget smearing or streaks on paint, windows or mirrors too. Auto-wash uses powerful surfactants to create a high foam level. This means that particulate matter is lifted away from the paint, where it can be safely removed with reduced risk of scratching or damage to your car’s paintwork; essential for vehicles with delicate or high value paint.
Auto-wash is brilliant for spot cleaning too when additional cleaning power is needed. Mix with an inch of water and use with a wash system to wash heavily soiled lower body panels and wheels, or neat for maximum power.
Use Bilt-Hamber Surfex HD to remove especially stubborn and tar based stains from automotive paint finishes.
Auto-wash is also anti-corrosive to bare steel, ideal for vehicles which may have stone chips or exposed areas of steel. The highly concentrated formula means that less is needed to add to your water and the added benefit of this is simple - there is less matter to remove from your paintwork prior to polishing. Auto-wash will chamois off with ease to leave a perfectly clean body ready for further treatment.

| Clay
Road tar, sap, pollen, bird droppings, brake pad matter, road salt and atmospheric acids will give your paint a hammering this winter. We all know that if gently run our fingers over clean paint we can feel roughness and grit contamination which cannot be removed by washing or polishing. Metallic brake pad contamination is the worst offender because after fusing itself into your paint at high temperatures, it eventually corrodes and expands leading to the onset of paint film destruction.

Auto-clay provides a method of removing harmful contamination from vehicle paint finishes, improving its durability and increasing the gloss level of subsequent polishing. Use after Auto-wash, by gliding over paint surfaces to be left with a glass smooth paint. Best of all, Auto-clay only requires water to provide lubrication and contains none of the detergents or soaps that some other clay bars have. It also weighs approximately 200g, so you’ll get about twice the amount than you get from High Street brands.
We formulate and manufacture Auto-clay to be gentle, yet tough. Some people confuse a clay bar’s aggressiveness with its softness. Auto-clay's mineral base is 3 on the Mohs scale of hardness (to give you an idea of how that relates to other substances, a fingernail has a hardness of 2.5). Silica, used in other clays, has a hardness of 5 Mohs - the same as glass, yet can be formulated and bonded within a softer carrying compound, creating an impression of being gentler and less aggressive.

| Lambswool Mitt
Most people know that when washing a car, sponges create havoc on a car’s paint, especially paint which is old and thin. Sponges compress car borne grit and salt against its washing surface and drag them across the paint.
As a consequence, wash mitts have become popular. They come in many shapes, sizes and formats- sheep’s wool, artificial fibre, one sided etc. Our washing mitts are hand made from unmarked lambswool, extra soft and with an extra long plush pile. Why is this important? Simple- because grit and grime gets trapped at the base of the pile as far away from your paintwork as possible and not scraped across its surface instead.
The wool goes completely around the mitt too instead of only on one side (as with lesser specified items) and generous tailoring allows you to wash far longer between rinses and subsequently, far quicker. The cuff is full depth and elasticated. There is a loop on it too, a thoughtful touch that has a practical benefit. Between uses, suspend the mitt in a warm place to allow the pile to reassert itself and to prevent the glove from attracting grime.

100% genuine extra thick, extra large chamois.
British Standard BS 6715 1991 is widely considered to offer the definitive definition of chamois leather. There are many animals which purport to offer chamois hide, but since leather made from the skin of the mountain antelope became protected, the only true source of top quality hide is from New Zealand where the lack of barbed wire ensures unmarked hides. There, from November to May, our buyers select for us only the best hides from elder ewes and then tan them to our exacting specification by processes involving the slow oxidation of marine oils into the skin. This results in what is called a full oil chamois. Some lesser hides are treated first with an aldehyde and then oils are applied, and these are referred to as combination chamois.
The term 'chamois' is often mistakenly used to refer to hides made from the skin of other animals (often cattle, goat, kid or pig), but these are not genuine chamois, as only mature sheep hides have the stretchy pores closely found within the hide, which allow them to be used in micro-filtration and drying so effortlessly. |
Tests show that genuine chamois leather, suitably dampened prior to use is the least abrasive drying material for any paint surface. This, coupled with its softness and super absorbent properties, continue to ensure that our premium quality chamois is still the highly regarded product for car cleaning and drying through out the world. The size of our chamois is 2.5 feet square, allowing work to be carried out quickly and efficiently. Being somewhat spongy, our chamois easily retain oil too, making it good for wiping greasy fingerprints from polished metallic surfaces too.
Our genuine chamois leathers are still manufactured in the traditional method to ensure high performance and durability and a unique and totally natural product. Our selected hides are 100% cod oil tanned to give them that luxurious, golden soft finish that can absorb six times its weight of water.
