Coatings
Coatings
applied to ferrous substrates should provide a dependable barrier
insulating the metallic surface from the electrolyte and oxygen
which are needed to power the corrosion process.
High adhesion coatings such as Etchweld promote long term protection of properly
cleaned steel by forming a mechanically tough bond at the coating to substrate
interface this bond remains tenacious even if localised damage by impact occurs. |
The provision of a passive oxide layer on steel surfaces increases
the corrosion resistance achieved when the substrate is over
coated by traditional paints, our award winning Hydrate
80 conversion
coating provided a dense passive barrier that is also able to
neutralise residual corrosion left after mechanical cleaning
processes.
Our “wax” based coating materials such as Dynax
S50 incorporate unique corrosion inhibitors that display a stronger
affinity for steel than water, displacing the corrosion causing
electrolyte from steel surfaces. The highly polar binder compounds
promote long-term adhesion and the inhibition of corrosion by
ionic or pH control at the steel/coating interface. The
hydrophobic nature of the dry film provides low-moisture vapour
transmission and results in highly effective barrier layer.
